Title: MHI Training Course: Substance Misuse and Mental Health
When: 17.07.2012 10:00 - 16:00
Location: The Clarion Hotel Dublin Liffey Valley, Liffey Valley, Dublin 22
Description: Dual diagnosis describes people who have mental health problems and drug or alcohol
problems. The mental health problems may include schizophrenia, depression, bipolar
disorder or personality disorder. Dual diagnosis might also be a term used in other
contexts, such as when someone has a mental health problem and a learning disability. It
is common for someone with a mental health problem to also have problems with alcohol
and drug use. Having a dual diagnosis usually involves more than the two issues of mental
health and substance misuse. The diagnosis of a mental health condition is made by a
doctor or psychiatrist. It is important that during a mental health assessment the potential
role of substance misuse is looked at.

Who Would You Tell??

This is a video made by Stephen Doak, Stephen Sullivan and David Mackin who are all 4th year students in IT Sligo studying Public Health & Health Promotion.

This video was made to promote speaking out if you have problems about suicide and to also try shake off the taboo about the word suicide.
